Finally! A hardwood floor that can hold up to paws and people alike!

When buying a new home, what design feature tops your list?  Whenever I canvas clients, hardwood floors are always a favorite.  They’re a great investment, too.  Experts say you can boost the sales price of your home as much as 2.5%--not to mention the 70-80% return you’ll get on your investment.   I recently replaced mine and couldn’t be happier!  They turned out beautiful, thanks to Supreme Hardwood Floors here in Austin.  They walked me through the entire process and provided interesting points to consider when picking and purchasing hardwood.  I want to share a few of these tips with you.

Quality Matters

A popular and cost-effective flooring choice, engineered hardwood is fast becoming the number one pick for replacing hardwood floors.  It’s less expensive than regular hardwood and often easier to install.  However, not all engineered hardwood is created equal.  Generally speaking, plank thickness indicates the quality of the flooring itself. High-quality flooring has much thicker planks. The lower the quality, the thinner the plank.  This affects whether you’ll be able to resurface it or must replace it in the future.

Trend vs. Tradition?

While some colors might be trendy, think ahead to resale.  What is going to remain classic?  Avoid trends that are too stylized and personal.  According to Holly Monti, owner of Supreme Hardwood Floors with her husband Al, lighter flooring continues to grow in popularity as homeowners seek out tranquility and calming colors in their living spaces.

Factor in Life

At the end of the day, you must live your life on these floors.  If you have 3 golden retrievers “hairing up” your home, you may want to pass on those black walnut planks.  Or, if you play host to a team of soccer teens, like we often do at our house, consider a super durable oak or hickory floor.

But, no matter what you like or how you live your life, you’ll find the perfect surface at family-owned Supreme Hardwood Floors.   Learn more tips to consider at www.supremehardwoodfloorsinc.com, or stop by their showroom on Highway 290.  And tell Holly and Al that I said hi!
